Thoughts on Tweetie 2 for the iPhone
September 28th, 2009Earlier today, Atebits announced Tweetie 2 for the iPhone. At first, I thought it would be just another number and “new features” just to charge us again for the app, but they made a lot of improvements:
- First off, I’ve been told by one of the Tweetie developers that 1 second auto updates is in their Todo list . This obviously is very good news. Why? because Tweetie is my favorite client UI wise, but always refused to use it because of 2006-like way of handling the loading of tweets(manual refresh…).
- The second big part is Push notifications for certain user’s tweets. This is nice, however I don’t need it. Now, if they also include push notifications for replies, that would be extremely useful. It would also be nice if they had one button that would disable and enable, so when you’re not home it enables them and then when you get home, just tap one button for them to disable.
- Price: Yep, the app won’t be more expensive than it was. Still $2.99. People still complain, but I say its much worth than $2.99 at this point.
- I’m not too excited about Tweetie this time around though, last time I was overhyped about it and it turned out not being what I wanted. If Tweetie keeps up their UI, and keeps their promise on fast refresh for those who are whitelisted, I’m definitely going to switch to Tweetie and ditch TweetDeck.
