Trillian
December 11th, 2009Yes, Thats right. Trillian is now on the iPhone and is available in the App store for $4.99, half the price of Beejive IM which is currently $9.99.
Trillian provides what a usual Chat client provides:
- A bunch of IM Network support, more being added each version
- Multiple account support
- Push notifications up to 24 hours
- Contact Search
- Sideways keyboard
- Tabbed chats like Beejive IM
- Global status change with custom messages
- Avatar changing from a camera picture or from a previous picture
- Send pictures, etc
- Favorites
- Copy/Paste
However, it does lack a few things:
- A Decent UI – To be honest, this doesn’t look like an actual iPhone app. The usual light-blue color in most iPhone apps is not the blue in this one. Trillian has a very ugly turquoise/blueish color that makes the app look really Bad. But the color is just the beginning. The physical UI of the app is very weak — so weak that I’d actually recommend paying double for Beejive IM. The UI is terrible and if you haven’t used an IM client before on an iPhone, you’d really have no idea what to do
People say how UI doesn’t really matter. It does, especially when it comes to iPhone apps. I’ve also had people tell be that UI doesn’t matter on iPhone apps. But I say, a bad UI is what destroys an app.
