Finally, An Alternative to The Facebook iPhone App
December 29th, 2009I use Facebook all the time to see statuses from my school friends(since none of them use Twitter). I occasionally use the Facebook App for the iPhone, but it just does not work. It has tons of bugs, crashy, does not work well when viewing your own photos, takes FOREVER to make any status updates or comments, and even if you mark a new inbox message as read, it will still show it as a read message. Overall, the Facebook app by Facebook is terrible.
So, when someone on Twitter tweeted using EchoFon, I accidentally clicked the “via echofon” button which brought me to the EchoFon Site. There, I was greeted with a surprise. The EchoFon Facebook app was released. At first, I thought it was a fan page for EchoFon on facebook, but I then clicked the link and it brought me to the EchoFon For Facebook app in the iTunes app store. The app is free so I downloaded it right away. I must say, the EchoFon for facebook app is SO much better than the Facebook one, not to mention a better UI and handling of the App. And to top it off, it has Push Notifications. If you would like an Ad-free version of the app, It is $2.99 to update. It is not a separate application, it is an in-app upgrade.
I will definitely use this as my main Facebook app instead of the one made by Facebook. It can actually run pretty well without crashing.

If the push updates work effectively it will definately be worth the $2.99.
Yeah, so far it works fine for me.

So I guess not just the Droid Facebook App sucks….
yeah, I guess Facebook is known for making crappy applications. After all, facebook.com on the desktop runs like shit anyways.

Hey, at least it's nice to have some consistency between Facebook's website and mobile apps. What would we ever do without a method of accessing Facebook that wasn't slow, buggy or generally trash?
