FriendFeed: A Dead Network?
January 31st, 2010A few days ago a friend of mine, DannyMinick decided to(in my opinion, out of the blue) close his FriendFeed account. The reason behind closing down his FriendFeed was that he saw it as a dead network, and no one really cared about it anymore. My first reaction to this was “well, he isn’t as popular, so obviously he wouldn’t get as many comments as someone else, such as Akiva Moskovitz, who has almost 1,500 subscribers on FriendFeed.” However, after I thought about it for a few minutes, and it seemed as if he was right about what he said. I have almost 500 subscribers on FriendFeed. I occasionally get some comments on the messages I make, but 9 times out of 10 I always get replies from Twitter, instead of comments from FriendFeed. Yes, I do have almost 1,800 followers on Twitter and only 469 on FriendFeed, but considering 450+ people are reading, I should get at least a couple of comments, right?

Well, then I get a few replies from some people on Twitter. They say that most people use FriendFeed to gather all their social networks and then group them all to one. They are exactly right when they say this. I especially use FriendFeed as an all-in-one social network that combines all my networks and then posts them to Twitter. With that being said, if the networks themselves provide a feature in which it can post to twitter everytime I do something on their site(YouTube does this when you upload a video, favorite, comment, etc), FriendFeed will then become useless and I will delete my account.
But until then, i’ll just use FriendFeed for grouping all my social networks in one.
