Review: Riddim Ribbon B.E.P.
February 20th, 2010It has arrived, it is finally here after all the fuzz from the Tap Tap Revenge users. Riddim Ribbon B.E.P. (B.E.P. stands for Black Eyed Peas, the music band of #1 hits), a great mix between being a DJ within a game, a racing game where you tilt your device, and Tap Tap Revenge.
The game comes with three tracks from The Black Eyes Peas: Meet Me Halfway, I Gotta Feeling, and Boom Boom Pow. Oh, but that’s just the main track. In each of those tracks, there are two remixes of the song. You choose which one you wish to play as you can see:

Now you can see where the DJ game part comes in place?
Within those remixes, and in the main song as well, you have the option to add special effects, if you will, to the sound of the music. Take a look:

To get on those, you get on the alternative yellow track, and unto the ramp.

There is one thing that made me go “Awesome!”, and that was the track that you are to follow tilting your device, and yes this is where the racing game part comes along. Simple enough, the track is the most important thing to keeping the song at its best. As simple as this, you don’t follow the track, you don’t listen to anything but the most basic of the song which just plain out sucks.
Remember that part where this game kind of is like Tap Tap Revenge? Well, you also have those Tappers from TTR. These will help you get more points and ultimately allow you to clear a checkpoint, or in other words a sector of the game. Also, make sure you get on those ramps, they’re very important to the game. You need to have that bottom left corner circle filled with green bars, otherwise you don’t clear the checkpoint. See?

Another thing, please stay on the ribbon track. If you follow it all along you’ll get a multiplier in points (Ever played TTR?). If you follow all the rules to the game, you get more points and that will simply lead to unlocking the harder levels of the song. You need at least 80% to be able to play the next difficulty. Simple, right? You do good on the core levels to then take on the complex ones.
In my opinion, this is a great game. There may only be a limited amount of tracks right now, but every time you play, you never get t he same feeling as it is based on what YOU want to listen to based on what remixes you choose, if you want the special effects and so on. I highly recommend this game as I’ve been playing it for some time now.
Riddim Ribbon goes for $2.99 in the App Store, and you can get it here. If you wish to have more tracks, you can buy Escape Me and Louder Than Boom from Tiesto as well as Satisfaction from Benny Benassi. Each of these tracks goes for $0.99 as an In-App purchase.
