Apple’s UK website, though, now says that iOS 4.1 will hit this Wednesday, September 8th. The US website still says “coming soon” for iOS 4.1, so maybe as time progresses we’ll see the US store updated as well. Could we also see new iPods released this Wednesday?

A report by AppleInsider notes Apple has ramped up their iPad production to 2 million units per month, doubling the production from the 1 Million it used to be. However, they’re not going to stop there. Reports also state that Apple is looking to ramp up the production even more, to possibly 3 Million in the near future.

Apple allegedly indicated to its suppliers that it would like to produce 3 million a month starting in the fourth calendar quarter of 2010.

It’s likely not coincidental that less than a week ago, iPad shipping times for new orders from apple.com improved to 24 hours. For months, customers had to wait an estimated 7 to 10 days, as Apple was surprised by strong demand for the device when it launched in April.

Officials with the company admitted they were initially caught off guard by the demand for the iPad after it launched, and they were unsure when they would be able to satisfy that demand. Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook noted that the iPad is not taking a typical early adopter curve, and already has a “very big” market.

Apple recently changed their shipping date from 7-10 business days down to 24 hours, so clearly they’re taking measures to meet with the high demand for the iPad.

Apple has released the weekly update to the beta of Mac OS X 10.6.5 to developers. It’s the fourth build of 10.6.5, so it means Apple is working hard to perfect 10.6.5 and eventually release it to the public soon. As previous builds stated, Apple continues to focus their testing on the same six areas: 3D Graphics, iCal, Mail, QuickTime, Time Machine, and USB Devices. The documented known issues from the last build, which involved issues with USB devices after waking from sleep on VMware is still present in the new build, but also includes machines running Parallels, not just VMWare. The official release of 10.6.5 is still unknown.

When Apple said that it would revamp it’s entire line of iPods earlier today at the Special Event in San Francisco, we all thought that every iPod would get an update, but that wasn’t the case. There were no mentions of the iPod Classic, which led us to believe that they either didn’t update it at all… or killed it off and stayed with the current line of iPods. Now, if you’re a fan of the classic ol’ iPod, you can breathe again, because Engadget confirms that the iPod classic is alive and well.

Today, Apple announced a brand new Apple TV – which is 1/4th the size of the old one. It’s all black, and the back is pretty simple – the power cord, HDMI cable, and an Ethernet cable for internet if you need it. It can handle Movies, TV shows and music, it’s all HD when it’s available, and content is only available to rent. You stream content from the computer – no syncing required. You can also get great photo slideshows. To rent an HD movie, it’s $4.99 when it first comes out. To rent HD TV shows, it’s $0.99 now to rent an HD TV show, which is a steal. ABC and FOX will have content, however, not everyone is on board with it. As of now, it’s only ABC and FOX. You can also stream Netflix movies right to your Apple TV. You can also watch HD videos off of YouTube, videos/photos off of Flickr, as well as MobileMe. You can also listen to podcasts, as well as many radio shows, all right on your Apple TV. You can also use AirPlay from your iPad and stream it to your Apple TV. It will be available at first in 6 countries, and will be available later this year. The Apple TV will sell for $99, and will be available later this month, and you can pre-order today.

Ping

Apple unveiled Ping, which in essence, is a social network for music. It’s sort of a Facebook and Twitter, except just for music. it’s built right in to iTunes, and it shows recent activities in posts from people you’re following. Just type in their name in the search, and if they enabled the option to be followed in Ping, you can follow them. There is also a top music from Ping, which lists top songs from people you follow. It also includes profiles from artists, which you can also follow. Users can sign up for Ping as of today. You can also use Ping on your iPhone and iPod Touch.
